Valentine’s Day Soaps Return to Hippie-Era

I love bringing back those cherished scents from the hippie era for Valentine’s Day! It’s a thoughtful and nostalgic way to show someone you care. Here are a few ideas to create or find handmade soaps that capture those classic, earthy, and holistic fragrances.

Volcanic ash –Patchouli: Earthy and musky, it’s a signature scent of the ’60s & ’70s.

During this era, patchouli oil became a symbol of rebellion, freedom, and self-expression, as it was used to mask the earthy odors associated with communal living and the naturalistic lifestyle of the time. Its rich, earthy, and exotic aroma was embraced by a generation seeking a connection to nature and spirituality

Jasmine: Sweet and exotic, it’s an uplifting fragrance.

I was a kid in the 70s and remember adults around me wearing a scent that I can now describe as an airy white floral, probably jasmine.

Provence Lavender: Floral and soothing lavender-rose soap, it’s perfect for relaxation.

” Provence Lavender-rose is a classic and sophisticated scent that embodies timeless elegance.

Rosemary and Mint: Herbaceous and invigorating, it stimulates the senses.

The aroma of rosemary has been linked to improving mood, clearing the mind, relieving stress, and lowering cortisol levels (including those with chronic anxiety or stress hormone imbalances). Rosemary is known to rapidly reduce cortisol levels by simply just smelling it – alleviating stress in the body.

During this time 1960s and ’70s, These products captured a moment in time when wellness wasn’t just a marketing concept. You could simply relax in a bath without feeling the urge to document it on social media. It’s this slow, simple approach to self-care that has sparked a renewed interest in these retro goods in our modern age.
