Most cold-processed, handmade soap has a pH in the range of 9-10. The misconceptions come into play because raw goat milk has a pH in the 6 range, whereas the pH of water is 7.

What is pH?
Why Milk’s soaps is closer to
our skins pH.

pH is a measurement  of how acid or alkaline a solution is.  Human skin produces a barrier on the skin’s surface known as the acid mantle.  

Goat’s milk soap contains caprylic acid which makes the product a low pH level because it is an alkaline product. This brings the pH closer to human skin and prevents dryness while allowing nutrients to enter the skin.

As the name suggests, this barrier is slightly acidic, and is designed to keep out bacteria, viruses, and other contaminants which can penetrate and harm the skin.  The skin’s acid mantle has a pH normally in the range of 5-6.  Because of this slight acidity, one of the best ways to cleanse the skin is with Goat’s Milk Soap , Buttermilk and Coconut Milk Soap.  

Most soap has a pH in the range of 9-10.  Goat milk actually ‘feeds’ the skin and permeates through the cell walls delivering calcium similar to patches applied to the skin. The pH of goat’s milk is closer to skin’s own natural pH which reduces the surface tension of skin, allowing it to absorb the moisturising effects of goat milk .

For most people, improvements in ‘skin feel’ are noticeable after a couple of days of using Our Milk Soap, depending on how much damage the skin must repair first.

I purchased a gentleman’s gift pack a few months ago. I went though all the soaps and couldn’t of been more pleased with the all of them. This one in particular really was the icing on the cake. The aroma of fresh coffee was amazing and is perfect for morning showers. The lather was exceptional and made my skin feel smooth, thanks to the coffee grinds. I would have to say this soap gos above and beyond in terms of what a soap can do. I would recommend all the “natural hand crafted soap” to everyone, but the Brazilian Espresso Scrub Soap is definitely my new favorite.
